Oversees and participates in all financial functions including accounting and reporting, budgeting, operations and pricing analysis, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury.
Accountable for the financial and risk management operations of the company.
Expected to constantly seek improvement in company's business performance and financial infrastructure and be ultimately accountable for audited financial results.
The VP-Finance will need to demonstrate a team first mentality and be able to roll their sleeves up as a critical member of a high growth Software as a Service (SaaS) business that is focused on the commercial nuclear power industry.
BACKGROUND On June 25, 2023, Pelican Energy Partners made an investment in Blue Wave AI Labs LLC, a software as a service (SaaS) business that develops and sells AI based software to support the nuclear energy industry.
The Company's proprietary software transforms historical reactor operational data into critical intelligence that helps nuclear operators reduce reactor Operating & Maintenance costs through improved fuel use optimization, and improved plant capacity factors via the ability to better predict component failure.
The use of Blue Wave software is significantly reducing nuclear unit O&M costs utilizing techniques not previously available for existing nuclear units in the US or the global market.
Pelican Energy Partners is a Houston-based private equity firm specializing in strategic investments in small to middle-market, high-growth potential energy service and equipment companies.
The firm has raised $609 million of managed capital since inception and makes investments in energy equipment and service companies in the oil and gas and nuclear sectors.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees, manages, and executes daily accounting, finance and business administration activity.
Prepares budgets, forecast and P&Ls at company, business unit level.
Reports on the company's balance sheet and capital needs.
Oversees the approval and processing of revenue, expenses, and manages capital requirements.
Analyzes cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business leaders.
Analyzes financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
Oversees, establishes, and upgrades business administration technology infrastructure.
Establishes and executes operational analysis and reporting.
Produces board pack materials for monthly board meetings.
Ensures compliance with government requirements.
Develops and implements finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
Establishes and maintains appropriate internal controls.
Executes and reports financial results (board pack materials) to executive management, investors, and board of directors.
Interacts with outside CPA firm for annual audit and tax return preparation.
Manages company benefit plans, company insurance and any real estate needs.
Interacts with other business leaders to provide consultative support to planning initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in and/or preference for a small entrepreneurial environment.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics - other degrees considered but must have experience producing and closing financials / managing a P&L CPA or MBA preferred.
