The Purdue University Student Health Center (PUSH) Medical Reception Clerk will be responsible for primarily manning either the Welcome Desk or main multi-line switchboard.
Duties will be cross-trained to enable coverage at both stations and primary role may be changed to accommodate business need.
In this role, you will check-in and check-out patients for appointments and walk-in visits.
The Medical Reception Clerk will interact with patients at check-out area to review billing statements, accept payments and bill charges to patient or insurance company, review and authorize all charges, and collect payments as necessary.
This role will answer calls from parents, patients, providers and PUSH staff; while also confirming caller's eligibility to receive services and make appointment with provider most appropriate for patient's needs.
Daily tasks include balancing the cash drawer and assigning patients to the appropriate provider.

Required:
High school diploma/GED.
One year of office or administrative experience.
Strong attention to detail.
Basic math skills, filing, database management and office procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds.
Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, telephone etiquette, organizational and customer support.
Good judgement, diplomacy, and professionalism.
