4K a year 4 days ago 4 days ago 4 days ago Job Summary The Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) at Purdue University is looking for an enthusiastic quality associate with experience in quality management systems (QMS) or working in a laboratory with a robust quality system.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Quality Manager and will assist the Quality Manager in implementing the overall QMS and safety requirements for Purdue ADDL laboratories at the West Lafayette and Heeke facilities.
The position will work with laboratory administration, faculty, and staff of the ADDL to continually develop and implement the quality system, with the goal of maintaining accreditation through the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) and potentially other accreditation bodies.
We are seeking an individual who has strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills (verbal, written, listening), organizational skills, the ability to problem-solve, a demonstrated commitment to QMS, and the ability to interpret and apply requirements set forth in regulatory standards.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be able to effectively communicate with all members of the ADDL administration, IT, and laboratory personnel.
Must be able to lead small groups.
This position will also help provide input and work toward a continual process of improvement to support the missions of the ADDL.
The ADDL handles more than 20,000 veterinary diagnostic cases annually with the main patient species being equine, canine, and avian.
The lab is located on Purdue's West Lafayette campus, a short commute to both Lafayette and West Lafayette.
This position has the opportunity, with approval, for a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday with occasional weekend responsibilities.
Employees at the ADDL may be eligible for educational loan repayment through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
Job
Summary:
Conduct internal audits, author audit reports, report the results of these activities, identify problems, and suggest corrective actions Assist in maintaining the ADDL document control system.
Write SOPs, including technical and administrative SOPs.
Review and approve SOPs for content and correct use of formatting Assist the quality manager with corrective actions, risk assessments and deviations Assist the quality manager with projects as they arise such as the implementation of new software and quality programs Assist the quality manager in preparing for and hosting internal and external audits, and with responding to audit findings Oversee lab equipment compliance including scheduling annual PM's and calibrations Serve as ADDL point person for safety to ensure compliance with the requirements of AAVLD, Purdue Environmental Health and Safety and general laboratory biosafety guidelines (BSL-2) Other responsibilities include ongoing professional development, assist with annual management review, compile data and provide reports/summaries.
Help maintain regulatory compliance with the CDC Select Agent Program Assist the accessioning department with sample intake, case creation, and data entry duties Additional duties as assigned.
Cross-training possible in all areas of the lab as indicated by need.
During an animal health or public health outbreak, participation in response activities is mandatory Required:
A Bachelor's degree 1 or more years of experience in quality management or working in a laboratory with a robust quality system Must have the ability to multitask and be flexible in order to accomplish daily tasks Ability to work independently under moderate supervision Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to identify problems, analyze information and implement solutions Preferred:
