Lab Assistant - Student Service

Job SummaryJob SummaryThe student will assist in ongoing NSF-funded research projects in Dr.
Wisecaver's lab in the Biochemistry department.
Students will be trained and expected to assist with routine tasks related to this research, including preparing and autoclaving media, preparing and autoclaving soil, potting plants, watering plants, transferring algal cultures, and cleaning glassware.
Required Qualifications No previous experience is required.
This is for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) student position.

Key skills and responsibilities associated with this position include:
The student will be expected to observe and listen to directions given by their mentor.
The student will be expected to ask questions and update their mentor on work performed.
The student will need to evaluate and analyze the results of their work and be involved in making decisions when things don't go as planned.
The student will interact closely with a mentor as well as with other students and postdocs in lab.
The student will learn how to efficiently multitask and manage daily tasks while continuously learning about the research they are involved in.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
