Secretary IV - West Lafayette - Animal Sciences

Provide clerical support for professors and staff of Animal Sciences. Schedule and confirm meetings, prepare and format correspondence, forms, and database entries. Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare reimbursements. Serve as the Building Deputy for Creighton Hall of Life Sciences (CRTN) and Land O'Lakes Center for Experiential Learning (LOLC), and Purina Pavilion buildings. Work with University staff to make sure buildings meet OSHA regulations. Distribute and track building keys and reserve departmental trucks and track maintenance. Receive and distribute packages and ensure packages are picked up and/or delivered to appropriate individuals in a timely manner. Coordinate the penning setup for animal activities in Purina Pavilion, working with instructors, staff, student clubs, and student assistants to ensure the facility and equipment are of the proper arrangement to accommodate the various livestock-related activities.
High school diploma / GED
Two years of secretarial/clerical experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce including faculty, staff, and external constituents
Strong organizational and record keeping skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multi task, work under pressure, handle interruptions and meet deadlines
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
Proficiency in Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
